Carolina Alves is Associate Professor of Economics at the Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose (IIPP) at University College London (UCL), and a Fellow in Economics at Girton College, University of Cambridge. Her research focuses on critical macrofinance, structuralist macroeconomics, the decolonisation of economics and heterodox economic theory. Carolina is the author of Labour, Value and Capitalism, (Editora Dialética, 2024), and the co-author Decolonising Economics: An Introduction, (Polity Press, 2025).
